Our Review

In today’s book review, I’m reviewing a book called The Boron Letters by Gary C Halbert.

A very weird title. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Maybe you’ve not. It’s written by a very, very famous copywriter called Gary C. Halbert. Gary has been named as probably one of the greatest copywriters, direct copywriters of all time. He died several years ago now.

This is a really interesting book. As I say, the title’s quite misleading. Gary was an incredibly colorful character. He’d gone through this phase of going boom to bust, boom to bust, boom to bust, and actually spent several months in inside a prison where he actually wrote these letters to his son, Bond. It’s quite an old book and you can see here it’s written in a very old style direct response type copywriting.

The lessons you get from this book are both on two levels. One’s on very much practical advice on how you live your life. But underneath that, there’s a very subtle theme on how to write much more effective copywriting.

I would definitely recommend this book. Again, simple to read. Story-based. It’s literally in the format of him writing a letter to his son. And then it’s been updated by Bond, who is his son just going through the ideas of what he feels his father was trying to tell them in the letters. So a great book. Anything you can get from Gary Halbert, any of the copywriting greats, I would strongly recommend you read.

I read so many books on copywriting. It’s a skill that will always pay back in spades, whatever you decide to do with it. Definitely recommend it. Simple to read. Big format. Great practical advice. So highly recommended that you get your hands on this book and put it in your library.
