5 Steps to Increase Your  Sales & Profits

Things often get over complicated in the buying process when in reality they can be so much more simple!

If we understand the decision making cycle then it’s much easier to help guide our prospect through the buying process which in turn will increase your sales and profits (NICE!).

Here’s how NOT to do it….

If we manage to get a face to face meeting with a prospect that’s a great start. Busy people don’t give up their valuable time easily so you must be doing something right!!

Generally they mess things up by talking all about their product or service rather than listening to what the prospect has to say. They will leave the meeting with no commitment or anything.

If you are in the top 10% of companies you will follow-up on the prospect over time. Most follow-ups won’t work unless you captured interest at the initial meeting. You’ll either not get through to them again via their gatekeeper or they’ll say they are busy or some other excuse.

There Is A Better Way

You need to create a clear and easy to duplicate sales process for your business. It’s not rocket science. You need to have a process in place that moves prospects closer to buying your stuff at each stage.

Step # 1 – Lead Generation

Advertising should be designed to create leads not sales initially. Don’t try to get the sale too soon. It’s like asking someone to marry you on the first date. You need to build trust and get to know them more.

There are hundreds of ways to generate leads. I personally like to use things such as Facebook Ads, PPC and Press Releases. I’m in control. I want to build a list of prospects.

Step #2 – Pre Qualify Prospects

Once you have generated leads it’s time to sort out and qualify the leads further. Don’t waste resources (i.e. – time & money) on tyre-kickers.

A great way to do this is to ask them to take an extra step. This could include a questionnaire or make a small purchase. This way you will filter your hottest prospects to the next stage.

Step # 3 – Send Out More Useful Content

Send them more information. Find out what your prospects hot buttons are. Try to create an Avatar of your ideal prospect. What are their biggest fears? What are their biggest dreams? Create content that positions you as the person who can solve their problems or help them achieve their dreams.

Great examples are Reports, videos, white papers, blue prints, cheat sheets, how to guides etc. The purpose of these is to whet the prospects appetite whilst positioning you as an expert and authority in the subject.

Step #4 – Get the Appointment

If you have done a good job with steps #1-3 they this should be easy. They will hopefully know like and trust you by this stage. (If you are an online business this could be getting them to register to attend a webinar, teleseminar, and seminar or applying for a strategy call with yourself.)

Step # – 5 the Meeting

This will depend on your product and service. If it’s a relatively simple process this should be enough to close the sale. This could be actually attending a webinar or group call. If it’s a “1-to-1” scenario it’s important to dig deeper and find out some key things about the prospect, (i.e. what is their problem? Is it lack of leads, lack of sales? Etc.)

Although this is an over-simplification of the process the key point here is that each stage is vital to move them down your sales funnel as quickly and efficiently as possible.
