Infusionsoft Web Page Automation Goals – The Real Truth

Before we discuss Infusionsoft web page automation goals let me ask you a quick couple of questions.

Have you ever sent out a promotion, and got zero response?

You know, the sort of response where you can literally hear crickets chirping?

You check your website, to make sure your hosting company isn’t having a bad day. You double check the links in your emails. You double check your recipient list. Everything looks good.

So why did nobody respond?

And did nobody respond… or did they just NOT do what you were expecting?

For additional insights, one solution is to use Infusionsoft’s ‘Web Page Automation’ goal. Web Page Automation Goals allow you to trigger an Infusionsoft sequence when a contact visits a particular page on your website, even if the visit isn’t directly from an email.

Let me give you an example…

Let’s say you send an email out to your list, promoting a high end coaching product. I happen to be on your list, and receive your email. The offer is of interest to me, but at the moment the email arrives, I’m too busy. Maybe the phone has just rung, or I’m distracted talking to a client.

A week later, I remember your email. I’ve lost the original email, but I search for your business on Google, and arrive at your homepage. I browse around your site for a while, but I can’t find what I’m looking for. Eventually I give up and leave.

Normally, that would be the end of the story. But with Web Page Automation goals, you get a second bite at the cherry.

So What Is An Infusionsoft Web Page Automation Goal?

Because you have Infusionsoft’s web tracking code installed on your website, Infusionsoft recognises me as a known contact. A Web Page Automation goal then creates a task for a salesperson to call me, giving you another chance to open a sales conversation.

How Does It Work? 

Before using web page automation goals, you need the Infusionsoft web tracking code installed on your website. Go to Marketing > Lead Generation, and select the link to get your code.

The code needs to go on all your site’s pages.

The Infusionsoft Web Page Automation goal can be found in campaign builder, under Campaign Tools.

In the goal settings, you can tell Infusionsoft which page to monitor for known visitors.

Now, when a known contact visits damianqualter.com/web-goal by any traffic source, I can trigger a sequence in Infusionsoft. In this example, I’ve configured an email to go out when you view the page I’ve specified above.

In a real campaign, it’s more likely I’d trigger a task rather than an email. When people view key pages on my website, I’ll often create tasks to notify me that a contact has viewed those pages.

Using web page automation goals like this provides a more complete picture of website activity, because the goal will trigger even if an a link isn’t clicked in an email.
