Infusionsoft Soft Opt Out How To Video
Okay, today’s video, I’m going to show you something which we found really, really useful and I’m using more and more with clients is what we call an Infusionsoft soft opt-out sequence.
And this is basically where we put a little bit of text in the email, especially important if you’re doing things like launches where you might be emailing your list quite a lot.
So we don’t really annoy our list and anyone who wants to opt-out of that specific campaign is taken out of the campaign but is not removed from our list.
So it’s very, very simple…
And I’m going to show you how we set that up right now in this short video tutorial.
Okay, today’s video, I’m going to show you something which we found really, really useful and I’m using more and more with clients is what we call a Soft Stop Sequence. And this is basically where we put a little bit of text in the email, especially important if you’re doing things like launches where you might be emailing your list quite a lot.
So we don’t really annoy our list and anyone who wants to opt-out of that specific Infusionsoft campaign is taken out of the campaign but is not removed from our list. So it’s very, very simple today.
And I’m going to show you how we set that up right now.
So we’ve got our email in here and I’m going to show you how we test it. We’re going to drop a contact into here, and we just put some text in here. And I’m just going to put some text at the bottom here. Oops, sorry. This is one thing about the new Infusionsoft Campaign Builder.
So we want our text there. I’m just going to format it.
Quite a lot of people ask me what font we use. We use Georgia actually. I’ve got some text here. I want to give you the text as well in the bottom of the blog post that you can use if you want to copy it. Obviously you can change it to be whatever you want to be.
Why Have An Infusionsoft Soft Opt-Out Sequence?
So we’ve got this text down here.
I just like making it a bit italic, just so it’s a little bit different and we can just add another a block of space under our normal opt-out sequence here. So there we are.
If people wanted to opt-out, we’ve got some text there. I’m going to show you.
The Infusionsoft Soft Opt-Out Sequence Set Up…
This would be any sort of email we want to do.
So if we go back into our campaign, now what I want to do is set up a campaign link. Now, this is when they click the link to opt-out, we’re going to redirect them to a page and I’m just going to name this Stop Link Redirect. And just for the sake of this video, I’m going to call it Google. Obviously you do it something on your own site, which makes sense, which just confirms what they have done. So we’re going to close that down now.
The other thing I need to do is create a stop tag. Now, this tag will be activated once someone clicks the link.
So I’ll just go into my… Here and I am just going to create a new tag. Tag. Add a tag.
I’m just going to call it Test Sequence Stop. I’m just going to call it, for the sake of this, Email Status, add a tag.
We’ve created our tag here. Let’s go back into our campaign. Have this as the goal. So it’s going to be our Stop. And you can see I use these quite a lot in my sequences. We’re going to put it in here and have it here.
So the other thing we could actually do in this campaign here is we could have actually to remove the tag afterwards if we want to not have lots of tags within, or it may be a certain category of emails we want to keep them out of.
But if you just wanted them out of this particular campaign and you don’t want lots of tags on the sequence, then we would just put in a Remove Tag here.
Stop Test Sequence, Save. Ready…
So what I’m going to do now is I’m going to go into the campaign and this is the text where I’m going to add it. So I’m just going to highlight click here because this is what we’re saying them to do.
Click here and I’m going to use a campaign link and I’m going to use the stop link, and then I’m going to apply a tag here, which was Stop to Sequence, done. And insert a link.
So you can see now that’s a hyperlink. And I’m just going to do the same in the second email.
Obviously you can create a template for these if you wanted. So let me just do the same again. Stop. Stop. I’m not very good at multitasking and I’m recording these. Done. Insert link. Okay, cool. So now we want to go back out of our campaign and publish it.
Okay. So what I’m going to do is I’m going to drop a contact into this campaign now and get an email and show you how this works. So let’s just go into the accounts.
Let’s find one of my contacts.
Damian Qualter, lots of them here.
Let’s just use this one. And what I’m going to do is I’m just going to drop them into the campaign sequence.
So use the Test to Sequence, Test, and process that.
So if we just go back to that particular campaign, if we go into it, what would happen normally in this example is we drop someone in, they’re going to get an email and then it would wait three days.
If they haven’t opted out we would send them again.
Don’t Piss-Off Your Contacts
Again, we could have different goals in there if we wanted, but this is just to show them stopping out the actual… Let me just drag that off over now.
We’ve got our test email and if you just scroll to the bottom, if I click here, it’s going to redirect to Google and what’s going to happen there, if I move that to one side, go back to search results, back to campaign.
You can see now these pulled them out to stop them on the other side so they wouldn’t get the second email.
So it works really well. It’s a great way of… I call them a soft opt-out.
You don’t want to be pissing people off with stuff like this, but it’s a great way of using the Infusionsoft Soft Opt-Out sequence especially when you’re going to be emailing your list a lot if you want people taken out of a specific campaign if they’re getting fed up with getting too many emails.
